Enquire about this pieceThe folded-leg stag is the great emblem of the animal style that ran across the Eurasian steppe from the Black Sea to the Altai: the body pressed into a flat, closed outline, the legs tucked beneath, and the antlers carried back along the spine as a run of scrolls. Here the scrolls stand free of the head as openwork, so the piece reads as a silhouette against whatever it is set on.
Small loops at the hooves and tail are pierced for attachment. It can be sewn to cloth, fixed to a panel, or hung as a pendant with a jump ring added by any jeweller.
